Since starting our group back in December, we have learned that there are other organizations already doing some of the things we originally set out to do. It seems that our best course of action is to work with these other groups — supporting and helping to shape thier efforts.

We intend to volunteer with these organizations and encourage other people to do the same. Let us know (using the comments field below) if there are other groups you think we should add to this list.

I would like to invite you all to the next Sustainable West Seattle general meeting. We meet from 7-9pm at Camp Long. The first half hour, 7-7:30 is good time to meet and greet one another before the meeting gets going. We’d love to see you there! (www.sustainablewestseattle.org)

SWS GENERAL MEETING: Tuesday, February 17, 7:00pm. Sustainable West Seattle is excited to have Cecile Andrews speak, author of “Circle of Simplicity” and “Slow is Beautiful”. Cecile Andrews is the founder of Phinney Ecovillage and the author of two books that explore the dominant culture’s addiction to consumption. Cecile is an important local thinker about sustainability and has much wisdom to share about how a simple lifestyle and slower paced life is essential to solving our collective predicaments.

Another thing in the works is the nascent Delridge Produce Food Cooperative, which is stil in formation. An offshoot of the King County Food & Fitness Initiative (KCFFI), it’s gaining momentum quickly.

    More info here: http://sites.google.com/site/delridgeproducecooperative/

They’re meeting at Pearls on Delridge at 6:30pm this Thursday, Feb 19.
